Autumn at LUSEM: Events, News, and Celebrations
As we settle into the new semester, the pace is picking up quickly. Summer may be behind us, but there’s plenty to look forward to this autumn at LUSEM.
First, we invite all colleagues and friends to join us for Kulturnatten at LUSEM 21 September. This year’s theme is money – featuring three brief yet fascinating seminars on cash, crypto, and microfinance. We’re also proud to congratulate Sarah Rosenberg, Postdoctoral fellow in Economics, on receiving the prestigious Pontus Roos Memorial Foundation stipend.
In this issue, you’ll find important updates, including information about the mandatory course on information security for all employees. We’ve also released a new News Comment video and encourage you to check out the latest episodes of the LUSEM podcast.

Course in information security
All employees at Lund University must complete a basic information security training to raise awareness about the risks involved in handling different types of information. Before the summer, the Vice-Chancellor decided that the basic information security training will be mandatory. The course is only available in Swedish at the moment, but an English version will be published shortly. Learn more |

ERC Starting Grant to economic historian Ingrid van Dijk for project on health She is the first researcher ever from LUSEM to receive an ERC Starting Grant. Lund University invites you to its 4th official research conference on sustainable development Highlighting sustainability research at Lund University, the conference 4 December addresses how global conflict and crises affect research and the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals. How do conflicts and crises (past and present) influence the ambition to build more sustainable societies and what challenges do we face as a result? Both early-career and senior researchers at Lund University are welcome to submit their research contributions relating to sustainable development. The deadline to send in an abstract is 8th of October. Learn more | AHU courses spring 2025The AHU’s higher education teaching and learning courses are aimed at all teaching staff at Lund University and are suitable for teachers at all levels.
The courses are given in a blended form, i.e. both classroom teaching and online assignments, unless otherwise stated. The application is open until 1 November.
