Open Call: Contributing Authors to the International Panel on Earth System Governance |
The International Panel on Earth System Governance (IPESG) is seeking Contributing Authors for its first global assessment of research on earth system governance.
This is a unique opportunity to join an international community of scholars working on a major science assessment that aims to inform future research and policy debates on global sustainability governance. Contributing Authors will support literature assessment, synthesis, drafting, and review across a range of thematic domains. Early-career researchers are also encouraged to apply. The final assessment report will be presented at the 2027 Earth System Governance Conference in Uppsala, Sweden, and is planned for publication as an open-access volume with Cambridge University Press. Researchers with a background in social sciences or interdisciplinary sustainability research, particularly those with expertise in earth system governance, are invited to apply. While academia offers intellectual freedom and opportunities for global collaboration, it is also shaped by competition, performance pressures, and frequent setbacks. This webinar explores how early-career researchers can build resilience in the face of rejection, maintain curiosity amid growing demands, and navigate systems where success is often narrowly defined. The conversation will also highlight the importance of community support and well-being in academic environments. Tune in on 15 June, 11:00-12:30 (UTC+2) Discover the program and register → | The Earth System Governance Project has recently endorsed the Groningen Sustainability Conference 2027 “Lessons from the SDGs for the post-2030 Agenda”, scheduled to take place on 5-10 April 2027 on Zernike Campus, Groningen, the Netherlands.
