There were many recruitment issues at the faculty committee meeting on 18 October. VH's strategy was revised to also include UDS. The faculty's competence supply was discussed. Principles for the distribution of grants were taken.

Ulf Magnusson Honorary Doctor in Estonia
On the 6th of October, Professor Ulf Magnusson
was conferred an honorary doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at the Estonian
University of Life Science in Tartu.
This recognition was in acknowledgment of Ulf's
contributions as the initiator and coordinator of an exchange program involving
"summer schools," seminars, and exchanges for researchers and
doctoral students in the Baltic states after the dissolution of the Soviet
Union.
The program served as an opening for the Baltic
colleagues to the international scientific community and was carried out within
the framework of the Centre for Reproductive Biology in Uppsala (CRU), engaging
several colleagues at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) for
nearly a decade.
"When I had to deliver my ceremonial lecture
in front of ministers, Vice-Chancellor, and dear colleagues, it was quite emotional.
The world looked quite different back then. It was satisfying to see that they
remembered and appreciated the work we did during that time," Ulf
commented.
The Horse Whisperer
For many years, Senior Veterinary Surgeon Peter Forssberg was responsible for the SLU clinic of equine medicine. He has also worked as the senior veterinary surgeon for the ATG and Svenska Travsportens Centralförbund trotting associations. Peter Forssberg has made groundbreaking contributions to establishing and managing disease control in Swedish trotting and thoroughbred racing, including regulations and inspections, together with questions on animal welfare and doping.

In the faculty's newsletter you can read about current events relevant to you who are an employee at the VH Faculty. Deputy Head of Office Inger Alderborn is responsible for the content. The newsletter is produced in cooperation with the internal editorial team in the Division of Communication.
The newsletters are usually issued in connection with faculty board meetings. The only meeting left this year is the one on December 13 but there will be a newsletter in november.
