Message from the director |
New CMES board in place While CMES 2.0 is still in the making some important steps have been taken in the last few weeks. We are pleased to announce that a new interdisciplinary board has been formed. Four faculties are represented from Lund University, which include dean and prof Christofer Edling (chair), prof Martin Dribe, Economic History, prof Maria Gomez, LUDC, and prof Lena Halldenius, Human Rights. External board members are ambassador and director Charlotta Sparre, Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa and Dr Rouzbeh Parsi, Swedish Institute of International Affairs. We are very excited to have such a distinguished board and look forward to collaborate and draw on their wide-range experiences and knowledge.
The ongoing Covid-pandemic continues to pose several challenges, but we are hopeful that in the coming new year we will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Persevere and keep healthy! | | | | |
The rate of infection demands expanded restrictions to prevent the spread of covid-19 The rate of infection is increasing throughout society and, as of 24 November, public gatherings and events involving more than eight people are not permitted in Sweden. Although this does not formally apply to the majority of the University’s activities, it does affect us, and a new (Nov 26) decision was taken to further tighten the adaptive measures that were already in place. The previous limit of 50 people in University activities is removed. Instead, the principle is that all activities are to involve physical meetings as little as possible and only when it is necessary or can be implemented in such a way as to avoid the spread of infection.
Regarding teaching and assessment, the decision clarifies that they are to be conducted digitally as far as possible, with no physical attendance on University premises. The decision also clarifies that meetings, conferences or other gatherings are to be conducted digitally as far as possible and gatherings involving physical presence are never to bring together more participants than necessary. As previously, in all contexts where physical meetings must be held, participants are to comply with the regulations, general advice and recommendations to reduce the spread of infection issued by the Public Health Agency of Sweden. Such meetings are always to be preceded by risk assessments. Coronavirus/covid-19 – information regarding staff |
