CMESNewsletter #22September 2021 | | | | Message from the DirectorNew CMES scholars and interdisciplinary research project! The autumn semester started off in the best possible way by harvesting ripe apples in CMES garden and hosting a kick-off meeting with new and old CMES scholars at Grand Hotel. CMES 2.0. is now put in motion with the launch of a new interdisciplinary three-year-research project on dust-storms and by welcoming new researchers and PhD students. With the easing of Covid-restrictions and with a careful renovation of the house, the Centre is slowly but surely buzzy again with a broad range of exciting research activities. Please consult CMES calendar where all the autumn seminars and events are posted. All are welcome to attend either at CMES or online via Zoom! Coming up in mid-October is Lund University’s Future Week on the theme of “breakthroughs". Do not miss CMES panel on future trendspotting in the Middle East with Lina Eklund, Rola El-Husseini Dean, Mo Hamza, Rouzbeh Parsi and Anders Persson. The panel will address a broad range of topics from climate change, migration, human rights, democratization to peace and regional security. The event is held in the beautiful Rausing Hall at Skissernas Museum on 20 October.
