The conference "Forskning om högre utbildning"
The conference
"Forskning om högre utbildning" was held May 11-12 in collaboration between Stockholm University and
the scientific journal Högre
utbildning.
The keynote speakers
were the prominent educational theorist Gert Biesta and one of Sweden's most
recognized researchers in educational psychology, Roger Säljö.
Biesta
problematized the idea that what can primarily make our educations better is
more research and also asked the question how much research does education
actually need? Biesta also wanted to discern what kind of research education we
might need and what kind of research that may get in the way of education.
Säljö, in his presentation, took a
historical approach to technology for documenting and conveying knowledge, from
stone tablets to today's Chat GPT.
Apart from the
keynote speakers, a large number of research presentations, panel discussions
and workshops were performed. What stood out at this year's conference was that
a lot of new and exciting research in the field of higher education is being
conducted by a growing group of young doctoral students. | | | ICED23 Conference - Design in a complex world
(International Conference on
Engineering and Design)

importance.
However, the environmental impact of these
technologies is a major societal problem and sustainability has become a
central issue for future generations. In this regard, the ICED conference is a
unique forum to discuss the academic, educational and industrial issues and the
necessary changes.
The conference is held between July 24-28 in Bordeaux,
France.

analysing and documenting one's teaching, sharing knowledge and discussing
thoughts and results with colleagues.
The theme of the
2023 conference is: "Context Matters". The theme emphasizes the
importance of context in teaching and learning, as well as implementing SoTL.
The conference will
be held in Utrecht, the Netherlands, between November 8-11.

SLU is working
actively with Agenda 2030 and the seventeen global sustainability
goals.
Our education, our
research and our environment analysis contributes to the creation and
spread of knowledge needed to reach these goals. We can see that our work
provides results through international rankings, the most recent made in June 2023.
But of course,
there is more work to be done!
The Agenda2030
group at SLU is currently planning an Agenda 2030 day, which will be held the 14th of November, where
SLU staff and students are welcome to discuss the development of SLU's work
towards the global sustainability goals.
