CMESNewsletter #44April 2024 | | | | Message From the DirectorOpen CMES calls for travel grants and workshops! This time of the year is the most “magical” at Lund University with the magnolia and fruit trees blossoming everywhere amidst students celebrating Valborg in beautiful sunny weather☀️ 🌸 April has been a busy month at CMES with many varied activities. Noteworthy among these were two international events: a policy-research dialogue on Europe and Iran, and a workshop on Women and Youth Activists in the Middle East and North Africa region. Furthermore, Morocco’s Ambassador visited Lund University and received a briefing about LU Strategic Research Areas in general and the Middle East research program in particular. CMES also celebrated Eid al-Fitr with staff and students with delicious treats from the Middle East. In May, several highly topical seminars on Israel Palestine are held, two on memory politics and one with Samir Abu Eid from Swedish Public Service Television. This public seminar is co-organised with the Students’ Association of Foreign Affairs in Lund and the Department of Political Science. Finally, please note that the deadline for paper, panel and roundtable proposals to the SWEMENA annual conference is today! Additionally, CMES has issued calls for workshop proposals and travel grants with a deadline set for 31 May!
