Hållbar Sjöfart för 150 miljoner!
I februari blev det klart att Lighthouse ska driva Trafikverkets branschprogram Hållbar sjöfart för 100 miljoner kronor. Under tio år ska de pengarna, tillsammans med ytterligare 50 miljoner i förväntad medfinansiering, skapa forskning och utveckling som ska bidra till att göra sjöfarten mer miljövänlig och klimatsmart – ja, smartare överhuvudtaget. Sjöfarten ska också bli mer kostnadseffektiv, säkrare och en mer hälsosam och attraktiv arbetsplats.

In February, Lighthouse was appointed to run the Swedish Transport Administration's industry program Sustainable Shipping for SEK 100 million. Together with another 50 million in expected co-financing, this money will finance projects that will make shipping more sustainable. Shipping will not just be more environmentally friendly, but also more cost-effective, safer and a more healthy and attractive workplace.

Sjöfarten har i regel svårt att fånga medias intresse. Men när det pratas om spektakulär teknik, framför allt om självkörande fartyg lyssnar journalisterna. Det finns två problem med det.

Shipping generally has difficulty catching the media's interest. But when it comes to spectacular technology, especially about self-driving ships, the journalists listen. There are two problems with that.
Firstly, large vessels in international traffic will not be self-driving in the foreseeable future. Second, the message scares off the skills of the future from the industry.
