AGERA presenterade framgångsfaktorer för samverkan
Den 26 mars presenterade Anders Ahlbäck och Eddi Omrcen från GMV projektet AGERA som nu går in i sitt slutskede. AGERA är ett samverkansprojekt mellan Chalmers, Göteborgs universitet och sex andra svenska lärosäten som syftar till att utveckla nya arbetssätt för att utvärdera och följa upp effekter av samverkan, med de Globala målen som ramverk. Projektet koordineras av Göteborgs universitet genom GMV och är ett av projekten i Vinnovas satsning för att stärka svenska lärosätens samverkanskapacitet – det så kallade K3-programmet. Den 26 mars arrangerade K3 ett webbinarium där GMV presenterade bland annat verktyget SDG Impact Assessment Tool, som använts för att hjälpa de medverkande lärosätena att utvärdera olika samverkansinitiativ utifrån de Globala målen.

Chemical exposure: what has gender got to do with it?

Sweden’s Global Food Systems Dialogues
In 2021, the world will convene for the first-ever UN Food Systems Summit to discuss and kick off a food systems transformation. Bold action is needed to transform food systems to become sustainable, resilient and inclusive to help deliver progress on the Sustainable Development Goals. The Government Offices of Sweden, Sida, SIANI, Focali, SLU-Global and AgriFoSe2030 will arrange one of Sweden’s three global Food Systems Dialogues ahead of the UN Food Systems Summit 2021. Reality Studio: Co-creating Change Makers
This Global Sustainable Futures seminar aims to inspire all course leaders and examiners through the sharing of experiences and reflections from Reality Studio, a masters course in architecture based on several years of international collaborations and partnerships in low and middle-income countries. We also hope that future change makers, students at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers take the chance to learn more about Reality Studio and how it can be one way to develop skills and methods to realize change. Warmer than expected under the 'Doomsday Glacier'
For the first time, researchers have been able to obtain data from underneath Thwaites Glacier, also known as the "Doomsday Glacier". They find that the supply of warm water to the glacier is larger than previously thought, triggering concerns of faster melting and accelerating ice flow.

How the EU can reduce tropical deforestation
EU imports of products including palm oil, soybeans, and beef contribute significantly to deforestation in other parts of the world. In a new study, researchers from Chalmers and the University of Louvain, Belgium, evaluated over a thousand policy proposals for how the EU could reduce this impact, to assess which would have the largest potential to reduce deforestation – while also being politically feasible. Photovoltaics in the shade, despite opportunities
The use of solar energy is growing in Sweden. But the photovoltaics panels mounted on Swedish rooftops and in solar parks are almost exclusively imported. New research from Chalmers shows how Sweden could have had a domestic industry for production of photovoltaics. The lack of a clear national strategy is one of the reasons why it did not happen.

Insufficient financial reporting may lead to underestimation of environmental liabilities
European listed companies in the energy and mining sector provide, to say the least, sparse information on future environmental costs in their annual reports. Researchers believe that stricter guidelines are required as the lack of information may lead to underestimation of environmental liabilities, resulting in that future generations may have to bear the burden of cleanup costs. Production in Space – Chalmers initiative seminar
Curiosity to find life on other planets has been a strong driver behind
space research. It has given us an
understanding of other solar systems and stars, weather, climate changes as
well as many innovations that we use in everyday life. Sweden is a prominent space
nation, and Chalmers is an important partner. On May 4th, Chalmers
kick off the seminar
on space and production. Meet with NASA scientists,
planning for settlements on the Moon and Mars, learn more about satellites and
what the future for space in Sweden and Europe will be.

Workshop om Klimatramverket - Göteborgs universitetets arbete för att sänka koldioxidutsläppen med 50 procent till 2030
Inom ramen för arbetet med att uppnå målen för
Klimatramverket har förslag om att införa klimatväxling och
koldixoxidbudget tagits fram. Nu bjuds studenter och medarbetare på
Göteborgs universitet in att delta på digitala workshops och tycka till
om förslagen. På workshoptillfällena redovisas arbetet så här långt och
möjlighet finns att diskutera förslagen till klimatväxling och
koldioxidbudget. Syftet är att samla in synpunkter och
förbättringsförslag innan förslagen går vidare till beslut.

Law as facilitator (or obstacle) for science based marine governance
Increasingly complex legal structures have been developed in recent
decades to try to accommodate and coordinate intensified human uses of
marine space and ecosystems while at the same time preventing large
scale destruction of ecosystems or disruption of important natural
processes. With a focus on marine scientific research and marine
planning, David Langlet will talk about the role that law plays or can
play in the realisation of the vision of sustainable ocean use, and
ocean governance based on the best data and scientific understanding.
While law is often an indispensable instrument it also holds the
potential to stifle desirable activities and conserve
unsustainable practises.
