A season of celebrations before summer
As June approaches, we begin to slow down and ease into the summer season. At International Citizen Hub Lund, just like across the country, a longer summer break awaits after Midsummer. But before that, there is still plenty to celebrate, from National Day and graduation season to the much-loved Midsummer festivities.
In this newsletter, we highlight some of these seasonal moments and share what is coming up at International Citizen Hub, with a few Drop-ins and events still ahead. And summer is not quite here yet, there will be one more newsletter before we take a break, including a preview of what we have planned for the fall.
But first, will we see you at International Citizen Day on 29 May? It promises to be one of the highlights of the spring, bringing people together to celebrate our international community.
Warm regards, The ICHL Team |
Ambassador of the Month: Adriana Hernandez
I came to Sweden for the first time in 2023 while visiting a friend in Copenhagen, and I took the opportunity to explore Lund and Malmö. Visiting Lund University, one of my dream universities, made me imagine studying there, although at the time it felt more like a dream than a real possibility.

We’re now heading into our final event month before the summer break, so make sure to take the opportunity to join us and connect with fellow internationals. See you at Bytaregatan 9!
| Drop-in ThursdaysNew in town? Looking for support, guidance, or just a friendly chat? You are very welcome to our weekly Drop-in, a relaxed and open meeting place where you can get answers to your questions and connect with others. Please note: The last Drop-in before the summer break will take place on 11 June. We will be back again on 20 August.

| Experience the magic of Swedish MidsummerMidsummer, one of Sweden’s most cherished traditions, marks the longest day of the year and is celebrated with classic summer traditions across the country. Expect maypole dancing, pickled herring, new potatoes and strawberries, shared with friends in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.
The celebration includes
many public festivities, making it easy for you to join in.
Embrace this uniquely Swedish tradition, from dancing around a leafy maypole to the custom of picking seven different flowers in silence.
| Sweden’s National Day
June 6 marks two key milestones in Swedish history: the election of Gustav Vasa as king in 1523 and the adoption of a new constitution in 1809, which reshaped the balance of power. Today, Sweden’s National Day is often a relaxed celebration, an opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Across the country, welcoming ceremonies are also held to celebrate new Swedish citizens.
