About Environmental Footprint Environmental Footprint is an initiative of the European Commission aiming to overcome unsustainable consumption and production systems and will be used to improve the environmental performance of products and organisations in the European market through a combination of market pressure and policy instruments, using information that is reliable, comparable and verifiable. ”On December 16, 2021, The European Commission adopted a revised Recommendation on the use of Environmental Footprint methods helping companies to calculate their environmental performance based on reliable, verifiable and comparable information, and for other actors, such as public administrations, NGOs and businesses to have access to such information. It will incentivise industry to manufacture products that have a better environmental performance, helping the EU's European Green Deal and circular economy ambitions.” (Press release by the European Commission on December 16, 2021)
