| Welcome to Sustainable Finance Lab’s yearly Partner Day, with keynote speakers Caroline Flammer and Robert Eccles, both distinguished researchers and also members of the SFL Scientific Advisory Board. We will highlight some of the initiatives and activities that are
taking place in SFL. Equally important, we invite you to engage with us and
discuss how research can support your operations. Join us during the day, share your thoughts, network with other participants, and contribute to SFL’s future agenda.

Energy poverty – the lack of access to modern energy, such as electricity – is one of the major challenges in the climate crisis. In an effort to study the link between financial inclusion and energy accessibility in Sub-Saharan Africa, SFL-researcher Ranjula Bali Swain and Ashim Kumar Kar find that financial inclusion significantly reduces energy poverty. The findings have substantial policy implications, pointing out the need for appropriate policies to promote financial inclusion. The researchers write that developing financial infrastructures to reduce the average distance to banks or creating an appropriate financial system with improved outreach is critical.

SFL-affiliated and doctoral student Joakim Fichtel recently finished his licentiate seminar, the halfway milestone to the PhD degree. In a proprietary database, he has collected data from 364 Swedish drug development firms, financiers, and support and research organizations, making it possible to study how inter-organizational networks have evolved over time.

After new ban on greenwashing - what companies must do now
| The EU
Parliament is now ending companies' ability to use climate compensation for
claims such as "climate-positive" or "climate-neutral" in
their marketing. "It's good that the EU is trying to combat
greenwashing," says Malin Pehrs, a doctoral student at KTH affiliated with
the Sustainable Finance Lab. She emphasizes the importance of companies
continuing to invest in climate projects and offers tips on how to do so.
