Message from the directorNetworking in the time of quarantine sure is difficult. As the world is in lockdown, I am glad that SASNET has a strong network around the globe, thanks to our outreach we can continue to spread South Asia related research to our followers without any interruptions. However, the corona virus is affecting us in regard to conferences, workshops and seminars. SASNET's public events are moving slowly but surely to a more digital platform, for example this year we will be more active on our SASNET podcast and have online seminars on our social platforms. In the report, Emil Lidén examines the potential for deeper security cooperation in Africa. Find the full report here. | | | SASNET podcast episode on Al-Qaeda and Afghan peace talksFor the third episode of our podcast, Andreas Johansson interviewed researcher Orwa Ajjoub, who recently joined SASNET, on the role of Al-Qaeda in the Afghan peace talks. Haque, who is a political and security researcher on South Asia, will work on his project "The implications of Al-Qaeda and (so-called) Islamic State’s theology for South Asia: An exploratory study for EU engagements".
