Christmas greetings!

2022 is coming to an end, the first year out of three of the Swedish Life Cycle Center’s stage 10. During the year we have had the opportunity to welcome two new partners to the Center, CEVT and Höganäs. We have launched the Life Cycle Talks, a series of talks presenting the research front to keep you up to date with the science and application of the life cycle perspective. We have arranged four training occasions for the popular two-day course Appliced Life Cycle Thinking and during this winter we have launched a webinar series about the life cycle perspective in the public sector.

At the Network conference in November we thanked our chair for the Swedish Life Cycle Center Board, Lars Mårtensson, for six successful years. In January we will welcome our new chair, stay tuned!

After twelve years at the Swedish Life Cycle Center, Sara Palander, Director of the Center, will leave her position.  

“I have had the privilege to work with incredibly competent people who have inspired me and educated me throughout my time here. Now it is my time to say thank you and hand over to someone else.” Says Sara.

Two new projects in the Center project portfolio

The project Modelling of electricity in Product Environmental Footprints will investigate the need for revised texts regarding the modelling of electricity production in the EU Ecodesign Regulation for photovoltaics and in the general PEF rules.

The project Environmental footprint in Swedish industry – increased understanding and implementation aims to test parts of the Product Environmental Footprint method to investigate how these affect industry, which gives an opportunity to influence the development of the Environmental Footprint methods. The project will also coordinate the Environmental Footprint expert group and Swedish representatives in the European Commission Technical Advisory Board.

Collaboration opportunities

Swedish Life Cycle Center plays an important role for all its actors within the Center to build networks, competence and influence future development. How the partnership is used is up to the partner. Partners value the direct contact to the network, research and high level discussions. Others are engaged in working groups that go in line with their organization’s agenda. And for some organizations, Swedish Life Cycle Center has been and is a key to their continuous work with life cycle related improvements and capacity building.

The Center hosts a dialogue group with nine government agencies in Sweden, engages small and medium-sized companies through a letter of collaboration and enters into collaborative partnerships with other life cycle organizations at a global level.
