Collaboration solves many of our challenges

“My interest in collaboration, and my absolute conviction of its usefulness, was probably one of the reasons I was asked to take on the role of vice dean. So much of our research wouldn’t be possible without collaboration. It’s the solution to many of our challenges,” says Renée Båge, the new vice dean responsible for collaboration. 

Renée works every day at the Department of Clinical Sciences. She has just taken up her new position as professor of animal reproduction and exactly how she will divide her time remains to be seen.

UDS and the VH Faculty to merge

This autumn, a project will be looking at the possibility of merging the SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS) and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (VH), intending to implement this change no later than 1 January 2024.

News from the VH Faculty Board June 13

The last board meeting this semester was held at the Swedish Livestock Research Centre at Lövsta. The agenda was a mix of decision and information items, including a decision to appoint members of the academic appointments board, recruit two new professors, and information about the gender equality work at the faculty. To finish, production manager Mats Pehrsson gave a presentation on the research and teaching done at Lövsta.

The wonderful summer is here again

I would like to warmly thank all employees from the bottom of my heart. Once again, you have all adapted to new conditions in an absolutely fantastic way. You have begun to shape the new normal and on this journey, you have experiences and insights that the pandemic still gave us. I feel the energy when we and the students can be on campus again - wonderful.

The wonderful summer is finally here and it's time to take a break, to have a holiday, sun, swimming and with hopes of many lazy, free, fun-filled and wonderful days. Let yourself enjoy the summer.

After the summer, we will meet a new exciting autumn semester full of opportunities. VH is in the middle of a revolutionary time, in the middle of a positive spiral. Our education is growing and we are growing in the number of employees and students. Our research topics are hot when knowledge to develop a sustainable life is required.

The Vice-Chancellor's assignment on operational change at UDS and the announced decision on integration between VH and UDS also generate positive effects, which we of course welcome with open arms.

It feels so wonderful to be part of this when the faculty grows. I feel privileged to work with you. You are not only an inspiring gang to work with. You are the best gang.

I and the entire faculty management would like to wish you all a wonderful summer.

The faculty’s new heads of department have now been appointed. They will take up their posts on 1 July, except for NJV, where the new head of department started on 1 June. The head of department at KV will be recruited externally and a decision has yet to be taken. Deputy heads of department in brackets.

Researcher residency at Ekenäs

The Interdisciplinary Academy – a new opportunity for SLU researchers

The Interdisciplinary Academy is a newly established programme at SLU where You, being a researcher at SLU, is offered the opportunity to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries on complex issues in the broad field of green transformation.

During an eight-month period, researchers with different academic backgrounds will have the opportunity to jointly increase knowledge of interdisciplinary working methods at SLU.
